Manila, a tenacious mother
Of all the patients who have so far made the precious decision to share their experience at Clinica Tambr with us, we are sure that Manila is the one who has known us the longest. She came to our centre 11 years ago, and although her story has had several twists and turns, it could not have had a happier ending than the one we are about to tell you.
Without a doubt, Manila is the living embodiment of tenacity, struggle and perseverance. No matter how many obstacles she encountered, she always found a way to get up and continue fighting for that child she had always dreamed of.
That time, Manila learned about Clinica Tambr.
Manila learned about our clinic when she and her husband wanted to expand their family, but due to a vasectomy he had undergone some time ago, this was not possible. In La Rioja, the province where they lived, they did not have much luck with the centres and professionals they met until a trusted gynaecologist told them about Clinica Tambr.
The couple began their journey at our clinic, but the story took an unexpected turn: “Due to the unpredictability of life, I was left alone,” explains Manila. The desire to overcome this loss and the courage that characterises her made our patient, who had always wanted to become a mother, continue to fight alone to achieve her dream.
What does Manila take with her from her experience here at Clinica Tambr?
In 2019, Manila crossed the doors of our clinic again. She always felt at ease if she highlighted something about the clinic; the entire team was close to her. Manila says she has built a very special relationship with Dr. Esther Esteban. He has been by her side throughout the process. “She is a treasure,” says our patient. Also, as she lives outside Madrid, Manila thanks her very much for her communication efficiency. It took place remotely during the treatment period. “You often have doubts or uncertainties, and she has always been there,” she says.
How do you think you can make an assisted reproduction treatment more pleasant?
When we asked Manila if she would give any advice to other women and couples who have the same desire to have a baby, her answer couldn’t have been more realistic. “It is necessary for couples to be very close and to communicate with each other,” she explains. She believes that it is very important for both sides to talk. For couples to be aware from the beginning that the roles of men and women are not the same in this type of treatment.
Knowing someone who has already experienced this path is where true empathy is found. We had the pleasure of being able to help a friend of Manila’s have two children at the Tambr Clinic. She tells us that with her, she could express what she felt at that moment. Even those feelings of sadness that sometimes are not easy to talk about.
It was a long wait, but it was worth it.
Two years have passed since Manila contacted us again to be able to become a mother. “It was a long wait, but in the end, she had her reward,” she says. Like most things in life, the roads are not always easy and facing adversity can be complicated. Manila said in her testimony that she lost her partner during the treatment phase and that in another phase, she went through a very painful situation: “I had a miscarriage, and it was very hard. I would have thrown in the towel,” confesses our patient.
You can’t imagine how happy we are, Manila, that you didn’t give up! It was a pleasure meeting you and Matias. As you well know, you will always have a second home here. Your story motivates us to continue doing our best with passion in assisted reproduction.
Liz, Drew and a little miracle called Robert Leonard
Liz and Drew are an Australian couple who wanted to share their journey to motherhood, which started in Melbourne and ended in Madrid.
They decided to become parents soon after getting married. However, life sometimes puts obstacles that make our path difficult. When Liz finally got pregnant, she had to abort in the sixth week of pregnancy. After this difficult time, they decided to resort to Assisted Reproduction techniques and underwent 7 In Vitro Fertilization treatments without positive results.
Why did they choose to make their dream come true with us?
Their doctor suggested the option of egg donation. “The only alternative was to do the treatment abroad,” says Drew.
Liz explained that they chose Clinica Tambr after a general search of fertility centres. They both agreed they would treat them in Spain, as Liz has Spanish origins and was born in Argentina. They started their motherhood journey with us after their first online consultation with Dr Esther Esteban.
Thanks to the medical consultation, all their doubts were clarified precisely and for this reason, they chose us. They also felt at ease because Tambre would be in contact with their gynaecologist in Melbourne, thus facilitating the whole process. “We knew exactly where we were going when we left Melbourne,” says Drew.
It’s time to take flight.
Three months after the first visit and after learning more about their case, they came to Madrid for the most exciting moment of the treatment: the day of the embryo transfer!
Their first impression of the Tambr Clinic was very positive. A welcoming and familiar place. “Probably because we had already established a bond with Tambr even before travelling to Madrid,” Liz confesses. Our patients also pointed out that communicating in English was not a problem. The Tambre team speaks the language perfectly. Liz speaks perfect Spanish, but her husband does not. She jokingly states, “I want to apologise to the entire clinic for all the times I tried to speak in Spanish.”
The couple wanted to convey their fond memories of Maria and Saul, their Patient Care coordinators, with whom they remained in contact throughout the treatment.
How do they feel now?
Do you remember the embryo transfer we talked about earlier? The embryo was implanted on the first try, and now, Drew and Liz have their little Robert Leinard by their side. They are grateful to us for the speed and effectiveness of the process. “We are also grateful to the egg donor, of course. In addition to having two frozen embryos and being able to give a little brother or sister to our son,” Liz concludes.
Reliving the whole experience, Drew remembers the visit to Clinica Tambr as something positive regarding the treatment and everything Madrid and Spain offer.
What advice do Liz and Drew give us?
Ana confesses that fertility treatments are not easy; there are many obstacles to overcome. “If you have no other options and want to get pregnant, I recommend you take this path and carefully seek as much information as possible,” she says.
The couple concludes the video by recommending Clinica Tambr and saying they continue to be in touch with us, send us photos of Robert and cannot be happier. Liz and Drew wish all the best to those starting this journey.
“We are grateful to have had the opportunity to start a family,” says Drew.
