The story of Sirena, Nacho and Kiki: a testimony that will make you smile

Sirena and Nacho won us over when they came to the clinic to introduce us to their daughter Kiki. Their honesty, humour and way of telling their story will encourage those who want a child to take a step forward.

How did your story begin?

Before meeting us, the couple had gone to the Seguridad Social [social security], where Sirena was told that she could have an ovarian teratoma (a type of tumour that is usually benign) or suffer from endometriosis. The final diagnosis confirmed the latter, and due to the pain she was experiencing, she had to undergo surgery that affected her fertility.

The experts who were treating her case advised her to go to a private clinic and to do so as soon as possible, as they were at “a somewhat complicated age,” as they explained.

At that moment, they discovered that Nacho also had fertility problems. “That brought us together,” says Sirena. Finding themselves in the same situation made the couple look for centres where they could undergo treatment. And they found us.

Why Tambre?

There are many reasons why they chose to undertake this journey with us. They told us that while visiting another clinic, they realised there was no privacy in the waiting rooms. “You are in a difficult moment in which you know what they will say to you and what you will face, and you do not need to be with anyone else or see other couples,” Silvia confesses.

Surprisingly, they arrived at Tambre and were welcomed into our waiting rooms. “Look, they heard me!” she said to Nacho. This was a plus for our centre and their final choice.

The couple had the opportunity to meet almost all of our doctors and say they were happy with their treatment. Silvia also tells us that the girls at the reception are in love and got along so well with the Patient Care coordinator that they would have stopped for an aperitif. They are also very grateful for the work of the nurses, especially Puri, who always leaves an impression on those lucky enough to have to deal with her.

“I was very cold, and without asking her anything, she had put a blanket on the radiator, and when I arrived, she covered me, and it was like… having my mother there with me,” says Silvia, referring to our nurse.

The happy and difficult moments of the process

For Sirena and Nacho, the hardest part of fertility treatment is having to listen. Consequently, assimilate what the professionals recommend when it is not what they expect to hear initially. “The option of bringing me the baby will be the best,” she says. In her case, it was an egg donation.

Instead, the anecdote that the couple wants to share with us took place in the recovery rooms, “they are so beautiful that I would stay and live there,” jokes Sirena. The couple liked the bedspread, and before going up to the operating room, they started looking for the label to see what brand it was and bought the same one!

However, the happiest moment was when we called Sirena to tell her she was pregnant. Nacho, who was hearing the conversation from afar, felt that we were giving her directions on what she could eat and remembers, between laughs, that at that moment, he thought: “It must be good news if they are prohibiting her from things…”

This is not a goodbye but a see you soon…

Sirena and Nacho tell us they want to visit us in a year to expand their family since they have an embryo frozen in the lab, which they affectionately call “the Frozen little brother”.

Finally, we asked them to advise other couples who will have to go through the same journey. “Let the clinic guide you”, says Nacho, emphasising that it is important to naturalise the issue and learn as much as possible about the people around us. “For the decisions that need to be made, it is better to have support”, concludes Sirena.

We hope to see you soon, family. And if we have to buy a bedspread to see you again, we will!

Benni and Julie are expecting!

Benni and Julie came from Italy to the Tambre Clinic to make their dream of being mothers come true. Three years ago, they decided to start a family, and from the first moment, they knew it would be thanks to the ARTM method.

What does the ARTM method consist of?

For those who don’t know, this technique, also known as receiving oocytes from the partner, is an Assisted Reproduction technique exclusively for female couples. The goal is to have both women participate actively in motherhood. One of the women will be the donor (because she provides the eggs) and the other will receive them and will be the gestational mother.

Benni and Julie already knew the procedure before coming to Tambre. Julie, who is of Chinese origin, knew about the ARTM method. On the other hand, Benni doesn’t remember how she found out about it but says: “I always said that if I had children, it would be like this.”

How did you feel at the Tambre Clinic?

When they started looking for information about the treatment, they saw Clinica Tambre on Facebook and sent the request. They had no expectations whatsoever, but, in the end, they chose us. “We immediately fell in love with the clinic after the first consultation, and we said: this is it.”

Her first contact with Tambre was positive because the Patient Care team was very thorough with them. In other centres, they had told her to transfer three embryos instead of just one. In addition, some recommended a selective abortion. Following these responses, they found great support in Tambre.

They liked the environment. “It seems like a small hotel, not a hospital”, they say. From a medical point of view, they are very satisfied because all their doubts have always been resolved, and they have always felt supported to the maximum. Patients who choose transnational reproduction need to create a bond of security with the clinic. The couple believes being apart makes people more anxious. However, they always felt reassured because the doctors responded quickly and concisely to their messages.

What advice would you like to give?

Benni and Julie did not want to leave without first advising all those women who wanted to start treatment in a country that was not theirs. After their experience, they recommend going to Spain.

They also recommend not saving on the treatment because the important thing is that it is a quality treatment in a centre that gives positive sensations. “If your instinct tells you that a clinic makes you feel good, then it is that one,” says Benni.

We recently discovered that Benni is pregnant and could not be happier. We wish her all the best from Madrid and hope everything goes well!
