What is the Bilirubin Home Blood Test?
Bilirubin Blood Test Home Kit. Bile is responsible for the production of this yellow-brown substance. It is produced by the liver’s destruction of aged red blood cells, which are then excreted from the body.
Why Get the Bilirubin Blood Profile Kit?
We test it to evaluate liver function and monitor the livers condition, including cirrhosis, hepatitis, and gallstones.

How Does the Bilirubin Home Delivery Work?
Purchase your Bilirubin blood evaluation home kit and perform sample collection yourself.
Make a drop-off of the sample you took here: Royal Mail Red Street Box. Return label used for our lab should be Track 24/48.
After our turnaround time, please check your email or site dashboard for your results.
How Many Days Will My Results Take?
The target turnaround time for the Bilirubin result is 1 day. Be aware that assay schedules may affect this time.
Please deliver your sample through Royal Mail from Monday to Thursday to minimize the chance of any delays.
Letting the sample sit risks clotting which completely invalidates it. Therefore, it must be disposed of and retaken.
Please take your test on a Monday to Thursday to avoid delivery delays at the lab.

What are the FAQs?
Q:What is this pigment, first of all?
A: Your liver contains a substance that aids in food digestion.
Q: What is the purpose of this sampling?
A: To determine how much bilirubin is in your blood. A high blood level can result in jaundice, which is characterized by yellowing of the skin and eyes.
Q: What signs of elevated levels are present?
A: Fever, exhaustion, appetite loss, heartburn, constipation, nausea, and yellowing of the skin and eyes are some of the main symptoms.
Q: What dangers come with elevated levels?
A: A wide range of illnesses, including hepatitis, cirrhosis, hemolytic anemia, liver cancer, and gallstones, are associated with high levels and can become fatal if left untreated.
Q: However, what can lead to elevated levels?
A: Certain foods, exercise, or medications.
Q: How can I lower elevated levels?
A: To lower your levels, remain hydrated, avoid alcohol, eat a nutritious diet, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, and consume wholegrain bread, brown rice, and potatoes to enhance fiber consumption.
Bilirubin Scientific Info/Data from Our Equipment and Material Suppliers
Technology Method:
Fully automatic biochemistry analyser
Detection Bounds:
1.71 umol/L
Accuracy and Precision:
Total Bilirubin: The approximate error is < ± 10%. The within-assay CV is ≤ 2.53%. The between-assay CV is ≤ 2.80%.
Measuring Range:
1.71~684 umol/L
Accuracy and Precision:
The accuracy relies on the approximate error percentage. This percentage is the percentage deviation from the actual result. However, the precision relies on the within-assay coefficient of variations and the between-assay coefficient. The within-assay coefficient of variations is the variance of the result value if the same Billirubin Sample was analysed again. The between assay coefficient is the variance of the result value if the same sample was reprocessed from the beginning again.
In range results:
3.4~20.5 umol/L
Out-of-range results:
Any result outside the listed reference ranges would be considered abnormal and may be a sign of liver disease or liver damage. However, please consult with your GP or healthcare professional.

A Billirubin Shared Story
A mother with a rare illness discusses how she integrates therapy with her kids.
Beatrice describes what Crigler-Najjar Syndrome is and how vital experimental therapies and research are.
Beatrice, who was born in Manchester, is 39 years old and the mother of three children: 10-year-old Leonardo, 8-year-old Samuel, and 1-month-old Giosuè. However, she had health issues from birth. And after a few days of life, she displays changed liver values. But only after a long period will she be able to name this odd disease.
A rare disease remaining without cure today is Crigler-Najjar Syndrome.
The only therapy accessible following a positive Test is phototherapy coupled with pharmaceutical assistance or liver transplant. Phototherapy allows the changed values to be recovered for patients to continue a pretty normal life. Thanks to the spring Io per Leidi Telethon campaign dedicated in especially to “rare mothers,” we found Beatrice to learn more about her lovely story of fortitude, huge hurdles, and gigantic results.
Crigler-Najjar Syndrome: What is it?
It is an uncommon disorder of bilirubin metabolism. However, it is a waste product of the red blood cell brought on by a mutant enzyme called UGT that is either deficient or malfunctioning. It is responsible for “preparing” bilirubin for physiological removal by attaching bilirubin molecules to its molecule. Sugars. Therefore, in this way, an accumulation forms, which, being a waste item, is hazardous and must be cleared from the body in some way since it could lead to death from cerebral coma.
There are two kinds of this hereditary illness.
The enzyme is completely lacking in type 1, the most severe variant (the one I suffer from). It is characterized by high levels of unconjugated bilirubin, providing early and acute jaundice in the neonatal phase. In type 2, however, the enzyme deficit is just partial. Consequently, serum levels are reduced, and residual enzymatic activity remains. In this instance, phototherapy can be performed for less hours.
However, how do you manage it?
Those affected frequently undergo regular Bilirubin checks. Those who suffer from Crigler-Najjar Syndrome are compelled to sleep beneath huge phototherapy lamps for eight or ten hours per night while naked. Also, there is a blue light with a certain wavelength that has been found to have the same function as the UGT enzyme I stated previously.
Therapy and Support
Thanks to this therapy and my father’s continuous support, I could live “almost normally,” study, enjoy the regular youth experiences, and establish myself in the world of work. I am a researcher in the field of biotechnology and have formed a family—I have three children. Doing phototherapy, however, was not always so easy. The lamps that were available when I was younger were heavy and had little positive impact.
Therefore, I had to make a lot of compromises.
By creating seven phototherapy lamps that were progressively more compact and useful, within the reach of travels and excursions, my father, Velio, transformed both my life and the lives of others with Crigler-Najjar Syndrome. Once lamps were heavy and delicate, my father invented a portable lamp that fit onto a trolley. However, it’s another life! When you sleep away from home, having this specific trolley and finding a tiny, warm room is vital because phototherapy must be administered without clothes.
