What is this HPV Variant kit?
The Human Papillomavirus causes nearly 100% of cervical cancer cases. The DNA reports on the variant version of the infection are diagnosed with our lab’s PCR instruments. It is a serious disease. Even 1 in 2 will contract the virus in their lifetime.
There is no or very little treatment for it.
Although there is no treatment for the virus, there are treatments for the problems it can cause. There is also a Vaccine for some of the variants. Medical authorities in the UK require vaccinations for teenagers.
Genital warts can go away with your healthcare provider or prescription medicine treatment. But if left untreated, genital warts may go away, stay the same, or grow in size or number. Research suggests that being healthy usually means that, for most people, your body successfully fights the virus, and it will go away within 2 years.
Cervical precancer: Treatment is available. Women who get routine HPV Variant Tests and Pap smears and follow-ups, as needed, can find problems before cervical Cancer develops. However, prevention is always better than treatment. For more information, read below.
Other infection-related cancers are also more treatable when found and treated early. However, for more information, visit a cancer centre or your GP.

What does it check for?
The Standard HPV Test screens for 18 Variations: 16, 18, 31, 59, 66, 53, 33, 58, 45, 56, 52, 35, 68, 51, 39, 82, 26, and 73. The certificate will tell you if you are positive or negative for any of these types without mentioning exactly which one.
The Premium looks for the 21 Variants screened for 16, 18, 31, 59, 66, 53, 33, 58, 45, 56, 52, 35, 68, 51, 39, 82, 26, 73, 6, 11, 81 and the certificate will tell you if you are positive or negative for any of these types, including which type you are positive for.
Please note: However, your result can be negative if you have none of the above types. Most of the common types are above. But there are more than 250 types, and you might have one of those types but not one of the above types.
Most competitors do not test for the latest dangerous variants. For example, Type 53 is one of the very common and most dangerous variants. And we test for it. But most others do not. If you are positive for HPV, especially a dangerous type, you must do everything you can to help your immune system eradicate it from your body.
Be your best, be healthy, eat well, exercise, rest, reduce stress, and see professionals to help you. Your GP should also consider a health dietician and lifestyle coach to win the fight against any infections.
When do I get my results?
It is 1 working day from when the Laboratory gets the Sample from Royal Mail. The while you wait service is £50.
What are the Instructions for home use?
What are the most common HPV Questions from Men and Women?
-
Q: Firstly, how does it spread?
- A: The HPV infection is transmitted by skin contact, skin with mucosa, or mucosa with mucosa. It can also be transmitted through direct contact with the secretions/leaks of an infected person. And the most frequent convey it is sexual (oral, anal sex, etc.). Careful! Because even with protected contact with condoms, there is a risk of getting the infection.
-
Q: Also, how many types are identified?
- A: Over 120 strains have been identified so far. But these fall into two categories: low-risk stresses and high-risk strains. Using our HPV Test kit for men and women, you can find out which type you have.
-
Q: And why are they called high-risk strains?
- A: The reference is for the development of genital cancer. Therefore, some strains are more dangerous.
- Also, the High-risk strains include types 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59 and 68.
-
Q: Also, why are they called low-risk strains?
- A: Low-risk strains are associated with the development of warts. For these warts, the recommended treatment is excision or local therapy for their “destruction”. Your health provider determines the indication for treatment and tests.
-
Q: What are Condylomas?
-
Q: How can positive results be treated?
- A: There is no treatment for this infection, but there is a vaccine that can help prevent it.
-
Q: But what if my partner or I have this infection? Will we keep passing it between each other?
- A: Current evidence suggests that natural immunity is poor, so reinfection between couples could happen.
-
Q: If I only had sex with one person, would I still get it?
- A: Having this infection isn’t a sign that someone has slept with many people or been unfaithful to a partner because you can get it during your first sexual contact – whether that is penetrative sex, oral sex, touching or sharing sex toys.
-
Q: So, are all the types dangerous?
- le=”color: #333333;”>A: No, most types do not cause cancer. About 13 types have been identified using HPV Testing, which can cause cancer. Types 16 and 18 cause 7 in 10 cervical cancer in women.
-
Q: What are its symptoms?
- A: In most people, the infection does not cause symptoms, and you won’t know you have it until you get one.
-
Q: What are warts?
- A: Genital warts are growths or bumps on the skin around the genital area. If left untreated, genital warts may go away, stay the same, or increase in size or number.
-
Q: How can I avoid getting the infection or warts?
- A: Preventive vaccination against the infection must be done. Vaccines effectively prevent almost all genital infections, including genital warts and infection-related cellular changes or cancer development.

Accuracy
The accuracy of our HPV diagnostic is defined as the combination of sensitivity and specificity variables. Sensitivity is the ability to confirm positive results; specificity eliminates negative results. Also, all our results are validated with high accuracy (up to 98.5%).
Variables
Accuracy can be affected by various factors that our lab cannot control. Infection intensity, patient health, and sample quality, dependent on adherence to “home” procedures, can all limit the results. Although our products are extremely sensitive, a poor-quality swab makes it harder to detect the presence of infection, as fewer viral particles will be present. So, please carefully consider the information sheet accompanying your sample collection kit to ensure a high-quality sample is taken.
Detection
The standard PCR detection method is designed to accurately detect the presence of Human papillomavirus in the sample. A positive result will distinguish HPV-16 and 18 from the others listed above. The standard process detects the presence of the listed types but cannot provide specific types. Furthermore, it uses a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) amplifying method to detect the presence of the pathogen.
The Premium Option detects and reports on the 21 types listed above.
Any diagnosis should be discussed with your healthcare provider. And any results from our medical diagnostics laboratory are intended to be viewed by healthcare professionals. However, this can be done with a patient’s medical history, lifestyle, and other factors that may influence results, which should be shared with your GP when discussing these results.
Positive result
A positive result suggests the presence of viral particles in the sample during examination. So, upon receiving positive results, you should contact your healthcare provider for treatment. You can also gain a prescription through our website. Also, it is possible that the virus does not present symptoms of the disease, but you may still be infectious to others. However, due to proven links between HPV and cancers, you must discuss the results with your GP.
Negative result.
While this can provide reassurance, it is important to understand its significance. This means the process did not detect the presence of infection during sampling. Results should still be discussed with a healthcare provider, considering lifestyle and sexual history. The result includes 21 variants that are considered “High-risk” types due to their association with Cervical cancer. Still, it cannot detect if you are positive for one of the other 200+ variants.

A Shared Story for those interested to k ow that your not alone.
This is about Hollie, who was only age 26 when this happened to her.
“I felt very anxious and upset upon learning that abnormal cells were found and that I tested positive for HPV. When I got these results, I found little information online. The HPV Variant Test Kit results worried me. I have been with my partner for 6 years. And I had the HPV vaccine at school over 10 years ago. I believe my school year was one of the rst years (if not the rst) to receive the HPV vaccine. I think there was a lot of misinformation given to myself and my peers at that age. We were given the impression that the HPV jab prevents you from getting HPV. Which could potentially lead to cervical cancer, and perhaps (naively) many of us believed this to be the case.
I now understand that this is not the case, and I felt confused when my letter confirmed that I had HPV. So, I started researching and found that HPV is very common and nothing to worry about, but I know that I am not the only one who was confused. Also, I had various girls my age reach out to me after I shared my story, surrounding my abnormal cells and HPV. They had the same confused questions like,
“I thought the jab at school prevented us from this?” and “I’m HPV positive too, do you think that may be due to us having the vaccines when we were younger and its still being in our bodies?”
We want to see
Greater education about HPV from vaccination age with its inclusion in PSHE, and/or science lessons. This will support the provision of informed consent, help tackle stigma from an early age and encourage cross-generational conversation about cervical health.
A HPV diagnosis can lead to all sorts of emotions. Our research showed that over seven in ten felt anxious about it, and almost half felt ashamed. A diagnosis often comes at a time which is already stressful, for example dealing with treatment for cell changes and fears about cancer.
Nina, 31
“It takes a lot for me to cry, but hearing this news made me break down in tears. The diagnosis left me feeling vulnerable, and I feared that it could cause complications such as requiring a hysterectomy or affecting my chances of having children. I felt as though the diagnosis predetermined part of my future, leaving me powerless. Additionally, fear and uncertainty gripped me as I contemplated what was happening inside my body.
I carried out a Google search for ‘What is HPV?’ and the result read ‘It is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI)’. Also, I was alarmed and confused, as I didn’t understand how I could have caught an STI having been with my boyfriend for over four years.”
We want to see
Appropriate information and increased awareness across the life course about what it is, how common it is and what it means to have the virus.
Lisa, 49
“I was totally freaked out as I’d been with the same partner for 20+ years – and I didn’t really understand what it was, how I got it, or what it meant. I recognised the letters but always associated it with promiscuity and I immediately wanted to point the nger at my partner. We’d been together for 24 years.
I remember saying, “but it’s an STD!” and feeling dirty.”
Talking about a diagnosis, especially with partners and loved ones, can be hard and may mean answering tough questions. Almost half of those we surveyed were worried about telling their partner they had HPV. It can also lead to changed feelings about sex and intimacy.
Lydia, 26
“Talking to my partner was dicult. There was a lot of stigma and shame in my head and I didn’t know how to do it. I was the rst of my friends to have a smear test and I felt embarrassed to ask their advice because that meant I’d have to tell them I had it. I felt quite isolated and, of the few I did speak to, I got diering opinions on whether or not I needed to tell him and how to do it.”
Beth S, 27

I felt quite isolated and, of the few I did speak to, I got diering opinions on whether or not I needed to tell him and how to do it.”
For me, the whole experience was kind of strange because I’m in a same sex relationship. My immediate thought when I got the results was, am I putting someone else in danger? Am I giving this to someone else? That was really scary. My initial thought was, someone else in this relationship has a cervix – what have I done to it? It did put a dierent perspective on things for me. I read all the stories about if and how you can you pass it on to people – and there’s great stories about guys and girls – but what if the other person has a cervix too?”
Diana, 30
My mum and I have a very open and honest relationship. But when it comes to dating and sex, it is a bit trickier.
She is a very devout Catholic from the Philippines and religion was a big part of life growing up. This in particular felt dicult to share. But I felt it was a health issue I wanted her to be aware of. Lo and behold, she told me she had it years ago too and even had been to colposcopy! I’m 30 and I never knew this about my mum! Talking about sexual issues or sexual health is not usually done in my (Asian, Filipino) family. But I’m so happy my mum was open and honest with me about it. It made me feel like I have someone to talk to about it with.
At rst, it felt like a really private thing between me and my doctor. But I found that once I started talking about it, people began opening up. It’s a matter of starting those conversations. It’s not indicative of my behaviour or lifestyle and nothing to be ashamed about. If I could do everything again, I’d speak to my mum straight away.”
