A Heartfelt Story – Isabel’s Death and Loss of CA125
You are unable to allow yourself to be vanquished; the future is now.
This HPV testimony of a life of test report is not distinguishable from that of other women who are afflicted with this condition. The emotions are universal, and you personalize each CA125 story, word, and experience. It is as though they were a reflection of yourself. Consequently, I offer this testimony in honor of my colleagues who are currently grappling with this illness. To those who are present and those who are no longer present, as well as to all individuals who are experiencing this disease and chemotherapy in the second person.
Isabel is my name. I was diagnosed with high-grade serous adenocarcinoma by HPV Womens disease physicians two and a half years ago, at the age of forty-seven. I conducted my gynaecological examinations faithfully on an annual basis.
The disease was not identified by my gynaecologist.
I experienced a greater degree of fatigue than I typically do. Nevertheless, I attributed the incident to my predisposition to low blood pressure and the weather. However, I believed that it could be the onset of lower back pain. I also experienced lower back pain. The frequency of abdominal, back, and chest symptoms increased as the days progressed. I now recognize the symptoms of CA125; my body was alerting me.
Emergency Room Visit
At that time, I resolved to visit the Clinic’s emergency room for testing. The doctor conducted an examination in order to exclude kidney stones. She scheduled an ultrasound, and the alarm sounded at that moment. The lymph nodes in the abdomen were enlarged. The protocol is implemented on the same day. A series of visits to the gynaecologist and oncologist, as well as CT scans and PET scans.
Afterward, chemotherapy is administered to reduce the tumor’s size. Additional chemotherapy and radical hysterectomy. I require additional chemotherapy treatments due to my recurrent CA125 malignancy. Therefore, to this day, we are anticipating the commencement of a clinical trial and are optimistic that a significant number of women will soon benefit from the positive results.
For two and a half years, there has been no respite, and there have been both good and bad days. During these periods, the medication’s effects are evident, in addition to the emergence of doubts, fears, wrath, and fears. However, you are unable to concede defeat. The most valuable lesson we can acquire when we acknowledge that cancer has entered our lives is that we must dispel negative notions in order to live in the present, as the future is now.
Accepting the malady is as challenging as the journey itself. Two alternatives are available to you once you are cognizant of all that is transpiring. I have not selected this disease; rather, I have chosen the path to confront it. Therefore, I must continue to fight. Although cancer has altered my life, it has not altered my identity. Consequently, I continue to relish the delightful moments that daily life presents. In times of weakness, I endeavor to sense the concealed source of strength that emanates from the core of our being and requires only the ability to be directed.
Concluding remarks
And here I am… recounting my personal anecdote, which I trust you will personalize in the same way as I have with other testimonies of CA125-type testing. I also share a quote that I like and helps me, especially: “If you cry for having lost the sun, the tears will not let you see the stars.” » (Rabindranath Tagore).
I am determined to conclude this process by acknowledging all those who have cooperated with me. Embracing their finest qualities in order to share them with me. My family, both those who are present and those who are unable to attend due to their distance.
My friends, to my husband: my rock, my valley of tears, my seat companion, the one who is always there and, of course, to my colleague’s companions in struggle, feelings, thoughts, an example of friendship and solidarity. I am inspired to continue moving forward by your presence, my courageous warriors. Thank you and a thousand thanks.
Marcia’s Testimony
On August 27, 2013, six months ago, after an abdominal ultrasound, they detected an increase in the size of several (many) lymph nodes. The truth is that from this Clinic ultrasound until they confirmed that she suffered from a carcinoma of the peritoneum, a few days passed. On March 8 (Women’s Day, what a coincidence), they “dropped” the CA125 bomb on me.
And yesterday, they confirmed that I am clean.
It has been an intense and hard six months for everyone (those at home have also suffered seeing me). 6 cycles of 3 shots of carboplatin and taxol, and in between an operation in which they removed my ovaries, the lymph nodes (good and bad) that could be removed and the appendix (almost everything that was “leftover” except the love handles). The recovery from the intervention was not bad (not good either), but that’s it; WE HAVE WON THIS BATTLE.
Many thanks also to those who have supported me via social networks WITHOUT KNOWING ME. They have been a great help in being able to tell my experiences and my fears.
Testimony of Arabella
My name is Arabella; at 42 years old, doctors diagnosed me with OC CA125 during an annual gynaecological exam. I underwent tag surgery and received chemotherapy treatment. Right after finishing, I participated in a research study. At the end of this study, on the last day of the last vaccine after a year, they diagnosed me with a relapse.
The HPV world fell on me again with bad results. But they operated on me again and gave me chemo. I had barely started chemotherapy when they detected a tumour in my breast through a mammogram, which was confirmed by ultrasound and biopsy. They operated on me and gave me radiotherapy treatment, and here I am still.
At the moment, the Clinic exam says its in remission of the disease and waiting for it to continue; I continue with my gynaecological check-ups. I write this testimony because I think that when we have cancer, we always think and hear the bad; those who do not overcome it… but I think many of us survived, in case it can help someone.
Much encouragement to all patients and families, little by little and day by day.
What I said: THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND A BIG HUG from someone who won this match.
